What does ECT (Edge Crush Test) mean?

ECT, or Edge Crush Test, is a testing method used to measure the compression strength of corrugated packaging materials, such as cardboard boxes.

The test measures the force required to crush a small segment of the material between two parallel platens.

The strength of corrugated packaging materials is affected by many factors, including the type and weight of the paper used, the design of the corrugated flutes, and the glue used to bond the layers of the material together.

The ECT test is used to ensure that corrugated packaging materials meet industry standards and can safely withstand the stresses of shipping and handling.
