The European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO) is a non-profit organisation representing the interests of the industry across Europe and addressing a wide range of issues, from technical topics to economic questions.
FEFCO created a recognised library of box styles that help assist packaging companies and their customers. When starting a new project always consider whether a pre-existing box style can be used or whether you need a bespoke approach from the start. The Box Factory’s team of box design experts can help when considering the best options for your product.
Industry standard box, the most common type of regular case used and often referred to as a carton. Flaps on the top and bottom which meet in the middle and require taping. This type of packaging is available as a standard design or can be customised as a starting point for an SRP (shelf-ready packaging).
The five-panel wrap is a flat pack, suitable for packing products that are very narrow and require one or more very narrow panels.
This style of box is self-locking and when assembled forms a strong die cut box.
The codes correlate to different styles of boxes and packaging.
Get to know them and discover which one is right for your application to narrow down your search.
These standard styles are a great place to start but if you want something more bespoke then click here to complete our enquiry form, fill in a few details and we will be in touch to discuss further.
We can create bespoke packaging solutions or we can tweak FEFCO designs to suit the boxes and packaging you require.

Similar to the 0201, FEFCO 0200 is a ‘Slotted’ style box that requires no tooling to manufacture in its most basic form, cut from one piece of cardboard and requires a manufacturer's join, which can either be glued or stitched.
Unlike the 0201, the standard 0200 style has no flaps at the top, leaving it open. The remaining flaps meet in the middle to form the base and can be taped or glued closed to create a lidless box with a strong and sturdy bottom and a flat plain opening.
This design is a very efficient and cost effective corrugated cardboard tray, and functions great as one. However, it can also be used in conjunction with a slightly larger specification 0200 as a lid for a more secure and protective packaging solution. As a form of user assembled packaging, FEFCO style 0200 is shipped flatpack and assembled by the end user, usually by taping the seam where the flaps meet.
The Box Factory manufactures to your exact specifications, considering length, width, and height, ensuring the perfect fit for your requirements. FEFCO 0200 is an ideal choice for use as a cardboard tray that can also be produced in a variety of fluting profiles (E, B, C, EB, BC and others), single or double walled, to guarantee the correct strength and protection tailored to your needs.
Fluting is the wavy layer between the two outer liners of cardboard that gives a cardboard tray or box strength and rigidity and what makes the material ‘corrugated’. The different fluting profiles refer to the thickness and amplitude of the material, which affects the levels of protection.
With the use of our in-house flexographic printing department, you can add personality and brand identity to your boxes. Flexo printing is inexpensive and The Box Factory’s ink kitchen allows the colours to pop, making it possible to create completely customisable colours and match Pantone codes. The use of spectrophotometers can ensure an objective colour match where brand colour matching is key.Find out more about our box design capabilities.
