A versatile, ready-glued packaging solution with a self-locking base.
Known for its strength, security and ease of assembly, the FEFCO 0713 features a sturdy, self-locking base and top flap that locks into place to securely contain the contents.
At first glance, the 0713 would appear to be a more complicated variation of the standard FEFCO styles. However, once manufactured, it is one of the simpler to use designs, requiring a very minimal amount of effort for assembly and no additional tools such as tape or glue.
This blank design comprises a box body, a small tab to the left connecting the box together, four tabs on the bottom that create the base, and three upper tabs that act as a lid and protect the box contents. Die cut from one piece of cardboard, the box body is connected with a manufacturer's glued seal and the four bottom tabs are connected using the same method to create two interlocking tabs that form a crash-lock base.
The FEFCO 0713 is shipped flat-pack, and assembly is completed by the end user, reducing shipping and labour costs, as well as the amount of space needed for storage. Assembly is as simple as possible. As the box is opened from flat form, the base will flatten, and the tabs will lock together. Once filled, fold the two protective tabs and lock the lid in place by slotting the lid tab into the box.
FEFCO codes consist of three digits, each representing a specific aspect of the box design:

Die-cut packaging is popular for its clean, crisp and high-quality results. Making this possible is the die itself, otherwise known as a forme. Acting as a giant cookie cutter, the forme punches your desired shape out of the cardboard using a large amount of pressure. During the die-cutting process, creases, folds and perforations can be added to the cardboard nets to aid in the next steps of manufacture and assembly.
A crash-lock refers to the type of mechanism used to form the base of the box. Often associated with self-erecting boxes, the base, consisting of four tabs that have been glued to create two, lock together as the box is pulled apart from flat pack form. This lock forms a much stronger base than one relying on additional glue or tape.
